Radon Mitigation Done Right, by a Local Business You Can Trust
Got a high radon result? You have options, and it's very fixable. Most of our systems are installed in about a day, with clear answers and no pressure every step of the way.

A High Result Isn't a Reason to Panic. It's a Reason to Act.
We know the feeling when radon tests come back high. Finding a qualified local installer should not be hard. That's why we started Up North Radon: so families across our region have someone honest and dependable to call.
A radon mitigation system safely pulls radon from beneath your home and vents it outside, before it can build up in the air you breathe. It's a proven fix recommended by the EPA and the Minnesota Department of Health, and it runs quietly in the background for years.
How a mitigation system works
How We Reduce Radon in Your Home
Most homes in our area use a system called sub-slab depressurization. It sounds technical, but the idea is simple:

Every home is different, so every system is designed for your foundation, layout, and radon level. No cookie-cutter installs.
A pipe is placed beneath your foundation.
We create a small opening in the basement slab (or sump) to reach the soil where radon collects.
A fan creates gentle suction.
A radon fan, mounted on the outside of your home or in the attic, pulls radon from under the foundation before it can enter your living space.
Radon is vented safely outside.
The gas travels up the pipe and is released above the roofline, where it quickly disperses.
Cracks and openings are sealed
We seal key entry points to help the system work efficiently.

Crawlspace vapor barriers
Crawlspace Radon Solutions
Many homes in lakes country and around Fargo–Moorhead have crawlspaces with exposed soil or gravel floors, which can let radon in freely. For these homes, we install a durable vapor barrier across the crawlspace floor and connect it to a mitigation system to draw radon out from underneath.
A sealed crawlspace can also help reduce moisture and keep the space cleaner. It's a practical improvement for your whole home.
System Maintenance
Keep Your System Working for Years to Come
Radon systems are low-maintenance, but they aren't "set it and forget it." Fans wear over time, and homes settle and change. We recommend a system check and retest every two years to make sure your levels stay low.

FAQs
How long does installation take?
Most residential systems are installed in about a day. We'll give you a clear timeline during your estimate.
How much does radon mitigation cost?
Cost depends on your home's foundation, layout, and radon level. We provide free estimates with honest, upfront pricing, so you'll know exactly what to expect before any work begins.
Will the system be noisy or noticeable?
Radon fans are designed to run quietly and continuously. We place the fan outside or in the attic and route piping as discreetly as your home allows.
How will I know it's working?
Every system includes a pressure gauge you can glance at anytime. We also retest after installation to confirm your levels have dropped.
Does the system use a lot of electricity?
No. Radon fans are small and energy-efficient, similar to running a light bulb continuously.
I'm selling my home and the test came back high. Can you work with my timeline?
Yes. We regularly work around real estate deadlines and communicate with buyers, sellers, and agents to keep things moving.
